Guide to microphone hire for events and parties

Do you have 20 or more guests attending your event? If so, you may need to consider whether or not you need a microphone. With background music and so many people having conversations, your speeches can be difficult to cut through the crowd. Here, we have made a Guide to Microphone for all events and parties.

Small Party

The next thing to consider, is what type of microphone you need, and what the audio set-up will be.

If it’s only a few simple speeches, with one person talking to a small group, an amp and cord microphone should suffice. Corded microphones have about 2 to 3 metres available of cord, however you will need to be plugged in at all times and consider the area.

The microphone will be plugged into the speaker, so you’ll also have to take this into consideration with your audio set-up.

Even if you opt for a cordless microphone, you’ll still need to consider the sound system as wireless mics only work as far as 10 to 20 metres range. You’ll also need to connect the microphone to a mixer and then a speaker, so consider power connection, extension cords and the floor layout for this.

If your event is outdoors, or you don’t require the microphone for too long, at Event Hire Sydney we do have a battery powered speaker and cordless microphone available for hire. This is an all in one portable system that comes pre-charged and with a battery life that can last up to 10 hours. You can also stream your music through bluetooth or the USB or AUX cord port.
